Wicksteed partnered with the Fressingfield Playing Field Management Committee to transform a compact space into an engaging and inclusive play area. Through extensive consultation with residents and collaborative meetings with the committee, we designed and installed a range of exciting play equipment that maximised the available space while harmonising with the surrounding trees and residential houses.
The project began approximately 3-4 years ago, with the aim of gathering ideas and input from the community. Through consultation days and engaging with residents, we gained valuable insights into their preferences and requirements for the play area. We met with the committee group to carefully assess the available space and explore creative solutions to optimise the layout. The newly transformed park now boasts a captivating train-themed playhouse, offering imaginative play opportunities for children.
Additionally, we incorporated Viking Swings equipped with both flat and cradle seats, ensuring that children of all ages can enjoy swinging safely and comfortably. To promote active play, we introduced a low-level exercise trail that encourages physical movement and coordination. The park also features a thrilling 20m Steel Cableway, providing exhilarating rides for children. Lastly, we installed Pick Up Sticks, designed with a nonuniform style to provide a unique adventure every time, offering a stimulating playground challenge.
To improve maintenance efficiency for the council, we made modifications to the area. We removed the existing park infrastructure, replaced it with turf, and installed grass mats. This thoughtful update ensures easier upkeep while preserving the park's aesthetics and playability.
The collaboration between Wicksteed Leisure and the Fressingfield Playing Field Management Committee has resulted in a vibrant and inclusive play space within a tight and challenging area. By engaging with the local community and leveraging our expertise, we successfully designed and installed a range of stimulating play equipment that caters to children of all ages. The transformed park not only encourages imaginative and active play but also provides a low-maintenance solution for the council. This project exemplifies our commitment to creating engaging, inclusive, and sustainable play environments that bring joy and recreation to communities.
