Case Study

At Wicksteed, we take pride in crafting play areas that invite joy, engagement, and inclusivity. The Alfriston Playground Renovation project with the Friends of Alfriston Group was an exciting endeavour that allowed us to infuse traditional play structures with a touch of nature's wonders.

Working closely with Anna and the Friends of Alfriston Group, our goal was to transform the play area into a vibrant space for the local community. Understanding the need for both modern play structures and natural elements, we introduced main timber play structures complemented by engaging natural play features.

Recognising the importance of inclusivity, we integrated a variety of play equipment suitable for toddlers, juniors, and children with diverse needs. Our design incorporated elements such as the Fort Knox unit, timber basket seat swings, large pick-up sticks, and leaf stepping stones, ensuring a diverse range of activities for children of all ages.

Beyond play structures, we envisioned a space that fosters community bonding. To achieve this, we added picnic tables and natural log seats, inviting families and friends to linger and enjoy the surroundings.

With a keen focus on inclusivity, we installed a basket swing and inclusive seating on the timber swing frame, as well as cradle and flat seat swings, catering to children with varied mobility needs. Choosing a local contractor for installation not only ensured community involvement but also added a local touch to the project.

We're thrilled to note that the project was completed on time, meeting our commitment to timely delivery. The Friends of Alfriston Playground Renovation project embodies our dedication to creating vibrant, inclusive, and community-centric play spaces. We're honoured to have been part of this transformative journey.
