Wicksteed puts extra sparkle into Sparkenhoe playground:
Wicksteed puts extra sparkle into Sparkenhoe playground - Outdoor learning is finally being recognised as a vitally important element of the school day. Wicksteed Playscapes has the expertise and the experience to transform any outdoor environment into something very special.
There are so many fantastic features and landscaping that Wicksteed can incorporate into an available area and this has been demonstrated perfectly at Sparkenhoe School in Leicester.
The lucky children at this inner city school now have plenty of imaginative, interactive and energetic ways of being occupied outdoors. There are tactile play panels, water splash and play tables, a log train sitting on surfacing with train track graphics, a station panel, Fun n Fitness trail and 3 play houses! The big feature of this playground is, of course, the bespoke tunnelled mound Wicksteed created echoing a certain Teletubby type hill! The delighted pupils never tire of scrambling up the grassed slope, sliding down it or crawling along the two blue tunnels through it!
Outdoor play time is now a very special experience and the children are thriving on it. There are so many different opportunities for them here and they have the freedom to explore, use their senses, improve co-ordination and be physically active or stay quiet and reflective, all within a safe and stimulating environment.
Acting Headteacher, Rhian Jones said: “Providing children with a stimulating environment has had a huge impact on our childrens’ enjoyment of their outdoor learning opportunities.” << back to media centre
