Royal seal of approval for multi-use games court:
Royal seal of approval for multi-use games court - HRH The Duke of Edinburgh was Bancyfelin's first royal visitor when he inaugurated the new community games court supplied by Wicksteed Playscapes and located on the primary school field.
Wicksteed, sports and playground equipment experts based in Northamptonshire, installed the games court which was provided for the village through the Trust.
Bruce Wallace, Chairman of BECT, said: “This is a momentous day for Bancyfelin. Prince Philip’s visit will set the seal on a highly successful first project for the Bancyfelin Education Community Trust.”This modular, multi-sport system is excellent for a wide range of sports including football, basketball, hockey, tennis, cricket and netball. With a resilient, green surface and state-of-the-art fencing, the floodlit, flexible, durable court will hugely benefit the whole community as it will be available for everyone when the primary school is not in session.
Costing over £80,000, the new Games Court project has benefited from the support of a whole raft of funding, including CWM Community and Environmental Fund, the County Collaboration Fund, the Sports Council for Wales, St Clear’s Town Council, Carmarthenshire County Council, the Foundation for Sports and the Arts plus a large number of local donors.
