Flying the Green Flag!
Andy Pitchford, Luton Borough Council's Technical Officer, was delighted to confirm that the Park had just been given a Green Flag Award ~ a key component of the Government's commitment to create cleaner, safer, greener communities.This wonderful new play area containing exciting and dynamic equipment, from Wicksteed Leisure's latest range, was part of a £0.6m project undertaken by Luton Borough Council to refurbish one of its oldest public parks. In order to provide exactly what the local residents felt the area needed, an extensive consultation process was undertaken and a Residents Caretaker Group was formed. This group was involved at every stage of the project and, working with Wicksteed Leisure, played a major part in the design of the play area.
At the grand opening in July, over 700 people turned out to enjoy the rejuvenated site and to herald Brantwood Park as part of a co-ordinated network of facilities that serve the local community.
