Raphael Park transformed by Wicksteed Playscapes
An uninspiring old play area within Raphael Park has been brought back to life by Wicksteed. The play area is inclusive to all ages and abilities, with an emphasis on those children aged 8-14. After consultation with local schools, a new natural and exciting play area has been created for the local community.
The site is surrounded by woodland and keen to bring this natural element into play a giant climbing trunk, found from a fallen tree within the park, was introduced into the play scheme which fulfilled an aim to source sustainably where possible.
Striking a balance between natural play and play equipment has been successful, with the creation of tunnelled mounds, logs offering informal seating, carved wooden toadstools, safety grass matting and a Rockscape, fitting in alongside a timber Cableway, G-Force roundabout and a Buccaneer Towers' Netscape. There is also a bespoke wooden mound with exciting tunnels and timber clad steps, as well as many other thrilling pieces of play equipment aimed at older children/teens.
The designated toddler area features musical and voice interactive play panels, as well as other younger play equipment including a Mystical World play system.
For the first time a recycling bin has been included in the area - highlighting the message of respecting the environment.
