More than 100 pupils from Childwall Sports & Science Academy, Greenbank Primary and Childwall Valley Primary in Liverpool recently collaborated with award-winning designers, Studio Hato, to create dazzling new artwork for their school playground. Wicksteed Playgrounds was selected to transform the students’ ultimate design into the final wet pour surfacing.

The dazzling design for this permanent outdoor artwork is inspired by Sir Peter Blake’s Everybody Razzle Dazzle commission for the Mersey Ferry.  Find out more here http://www.biennial.com/dazzleferry

Sally Tallant, Director of Liverpool Biennial, said: “It is exciting to see people continuing to engage with the history of dazzle camouflage in Liverpool. We are thrilled that the children from Childwall’s primary and secondary shools have had the opportunity to create their own dazzle artwork for the city.”

Wicksteed was delighted to be involved in such a creative celebration of pupils’ visions into something practical yet appealing, to provide a fantastic legacy for the Academy and all its present pupils and those in the future.

James Kerfoot, Head Teacher, said: "Childwall Sports & Science Academy is committed to inspiring our students by unlocking their creativity. We are delighted to be working with Curious Minds and now Liverpool Biennial on this project to create a stimulating environment for all our staff and students. “

Peter Ward, Director of pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development (SMSC)and CPD, said: “It has been fantastic to see this new collaborative artwork take shape and become something that students can use every day. It has been a brilliant opportunity for Childwall SSA to work with the Biennial and the primary schools to continue to transform our learning environment through the visual arts.”
