Wicksteed supply and install a choice of four playground safety surface options:
- Safety Tiles in a range of 4 colours and 4 thicknesses;
- Continuous Safety Surfacing in a range of 9 colours and any thickness, which can incorporate attractive graphics;
- Safety Grass, a honeycomb matting for installation onto grass - ideal as a playground safety surface beneath play and fitness equipment and for high-wearing walkways across grass to protect against erosion;
- Safety Bark for installation into a bark pit.
All have been tested and certified, as appropriate, to BS EN 1177:1998 and BS 7188:1998. Testing of each of our playground safety surface options covers:
- Free fall heights;
- Resistance to abrasive wear;
- Slip resistance;
- Resistance to indentation;
- Flammability.
The specification of the playground safety surface required for each item of play equipment is calculated according to BS EN 1176 and is specified in Wicksteed’s literature and on our website. Technical drawings of each playground safety surface recommendation can also be downloaded from our Website by registered users. Safety Tiles, Continuous Surfacing and Safety Grass all carry an impressive a 5-year guarantee (normal wear and tear, acts of vandalism and accidental damage excluded).
