Brambleside Play Team Project - Parents' Feedback

I am writing regarding the Brambleside School Play Team project, as a parent of one of the children who took part.

I think that the project was a fantastic idea and realy fired the children up.  I know my daughter was very excited through every step and I feel very privileged that she happened to be in the class that took part.  This project not only gave the children all the background information that they needed to design a piece of equipment, but also gave them an insight as to how it was made.  They felt very special and important when they had their visit to the factory and were treated as grown ups.

They had to think of products that not only would they enjoy, but other children would too.  It was good for them to see how their piece of equipment could also be adapted to give children with disabilities the same opportunities as able-bodied children.  To work as a team is something all of them will need to learn as they get older and I know that although this was very challenging for them, it was essential that they listened to each other's ideas.  It may even have brought out a leader in the group that may not have realised before that they had that quality.  To stand up as a group and 'sell their wares' to a panel was an incredible experience for them all and hopefully has given them confidence to do something similar in their further education.  They already know now that they have the confidence and ability to do this.

It is wonderful that the winning design is in the proess of being manufactured and I think that every child and teacher involved should be very pround of themselves.  This is an experience that not many 10-11 year olds can say they have been involved in and I think a lot of credit should go to the management team at Wicksteed, who handled the whole project well and took the time to listen to the children's ideas and comments.  Thank you to everyone involved - my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

--------------------------------------------

My daughter was an enthusiastic participant and member of the winning team in the recent Wicksteed Playscape project.  She enjoyed the experience a great deal and gained a better understanding of the whole manufacturing process and the world of work as a result.  The project required her to consider a wide variety of challenges including: research, design, team working, engineering issues and of course her presentation skills and powers of persuasion.  I think that the whole concept and execution of the project was excellent and very beneficial to Rebecca and her class and we are very grateful for all of the hard work put in by everyone involved.  Thank you.

----------------------------------------------

I would like to thank you and Wicksteed Playscapes for the opportunity for all the children to experience life beyond the school environment.  I thought the site visit with all the health and safety aspects a valuable learning experience for the children.  My daughter enjoyed all aspects of the project work and felt very proud to be part of it all.  I think she has learnt valuable teamwork, design and presentation skills.  Overall it showed good community spirit with the children, teachers and Wicksteed Playscapes working hard together to produce an excellent project with an excellent outcome.
