Newark Road, Lincoln:
Newark Road, Lincoln - Nature's own playground enhanced by Wicksteed Playscapes
There's a lovely, earthy feel to the new play area in Newark Road, Lincoln, where Wicksteed Playscapes has sensitively and creatively produced a challenging adventure nature trail in amongst the natural, woody setting. The site already enjoys a lush and undulating landscape, so the addition of the agility trails were designed to enhance the natural environment. It is anticipated that the 8 to 13 year olds, in particular, will be enticed away from their indoor computer games, will unglue themselves from the television set and go and explore the new play space.
With funding partly from PlayBuilder, Lincoln Council has commissioned Wicksteed to work wonders on the site. The Northamptonshire-based company has created various areas within the parkland consisting of agility trails intertwining through the existing trees. A special bridge has been designed which links both halves of the Upsilon adventure trail, blending in seamlessly with the existing terrain and a cleverly crafted Willow Arch tunnel nestles at the edge of the treeline mingling perfectly with the natural landscape.
There's also a towering Netscape with lookout point, a Warrior Anthill Climber and a scarily fast Hurricane Swing installed on the site so the local community and visitors are finding plenty to keep them out and about in the great outdoors; nature's own playground.
