National Play Day ~ electronic style!:

National Play Day ~ electronic style! - Throughout the summer, children, young people, parents, carers and whole communities will undoubtedly be getting out and about in the fresh air but August 5th was officially named as National Play Day.

Co-ordinated by Play England - who are part of the National Children's Bureau (NCB) - over 800 locally organised, free events took place in various venues across the UK to mark the occasion.

In Broadfield Park, Rochdale, a futuristic, stylish electronic play system from Wicksteed Playscapes took centre stage.  The brand new PlayAlive product caused a sensation among the visiting folk who couldn't wait to clamber on it and try out the energetic games for themselves.  At one stage there were an amazing 40 kids on the unit!  Heart rates were definitely racing by the end of each game and much interactive fun was had by all.

Designed and developed to entice youngsters away from their typical computer-obsessed, indoor-based lifestyles, the PlayAlive open play system offers interactive, affordable electronic fun!  Complete with 16 LED satellites, flashing coloured lights and electronic "voice", the whole family will benefit from the sheer fun and social interaction to be had with this funkily dynamic play experience.

Sue Birtles from Rochdale Borough Council, said: "The aim of the day was to ensure that children and young people had the opportunity to participate in physical activities and hopefully encourage them to use the great outdoors.  The equipment from Wicksteed facilitated a range of ages and abilities and was found to be a very popular pice of equipment with all ages."
