Local Brownies get their chosen playground:
Local Brownies get their chosen playground - Stoke Albany's local Brownies were recently invited to join forces with other local residents and the Parish Council to offer their suggestions and preferences to the proposed new play area design commissioned by Kettering Borough Council.
The existing site was of limited appeal, providing only the basic swings and slides for the local users, so with capital money to spend on equipment it was time to commission a brand new playground. Wicksteed was one of six companies who were asked to submit their designs for this exciting project but it was down to the discerning opinions of the Brownies and the Parish Council to help decide on the winning scheme. Illustrated are two graphic representations of the proposed designs submitted by Wicksteed and it’s clear to see why theirs was the preferred choice.
Sarah Easty, Landscape Development Officer for the Borough Council, points out that there may, in fact, be further funding available from the Parish Council for the building of basketball and football facilities on the site for which Wicksteed have also been selected. “Rejuvenation of the site will provide a more imaginative and happier place for the local users to play as Sarah was keen to point out, “and it will be a much safer place as the playground is going to be in a proper fenced- off area, complete with dog-free zone.”
