Disability Discrimination Act 1995

The Disability Discrimination Act is lengthy and complex. Our Guide to this Act is intended to be a clear and concise breakdown of the various points contained within the Act and its implications with regard to outdoor playgrounds and play areas. Those children with disabilities are to be treated fairly and given the same access to play equipment as those without disabilities. This needs to be taken into account when planning and constructing a playground area.

EN 1176 and EN 1177

Wicksteed has co-written with Peter Heseltine of The Play Inspection Company ‘An Essential Guide to BS EN 1176 and BS EN 1177 - Children's Playground Equipment and Surfacing.' The essence of this Guide is to emphasise the importance of high safety standards in both play equipment and impact absorbent surfacing. British and European safety standards ensure our children are safe during their play and Wicksteed products are certified to these safety standards.
