Land of adventure comes to urban park:
Land of adventure comes to urban park - What a transformation! A huge park in the London Borough of Havering has recently undergone some Wicksteed magic!
The play area at Raphael Park, Romford - which is a beautiful site already blessed with natural undulations and plenty of magnificent trees - now looks really stunning; like an intriguing adventure land ready for exploring nature's own playground, thanks to Wicksteed's sensitive landscaping and design work.
Parks Project Manager, Don Stewart, spoke on behalf of Havering Council and the local people when he said: "We are very pleased with the recently constructed natural children's play area designed and constructed by Wicksteed Playscapes in Raphael Park.
The park is the premier urban park for Romford and the play area complements the facility perfectly. The design, which includes sand, gravel pathways, fallen tree logs and other natural materials, works really well in the wooded landscape and the play equipment chosen is proving extremely popular for children across the borough. In fact, the new dimension to this refurbished play area has given the park a fantastic lift."
With funding made available partly from the Big Lottery Play Fund and parly Playbuilder, this play area cost £265,000 to build and offers the ideal combination of play products together with natural elements creating the perfect balance in play value to cater for all ages and abilities and is bringing a breath of fresh air to the local community.
