Freenotes:

Freenotes - Freedom of expression with Freenotes

No, it’s not the sounds of seagulls flying over the BIC in Bournemouth, nor is it the clickety clack of bowling balls on the well tended greens, it’s the sounds of Wicksteed’s Freenotes reverberating round the centre as care professionals test out the tastefully tuneful instruments!

Yes, the addition of music to all our lives is definitely beneficial and can bring positive and healing powers to daily life for older folk in particular. Wicksteed’s Freenotes’ stand at the exhibition was buzzing with a variety of people as they queued up to have a go; proving how the interest in musical therapy for residents in carehomes is continuing to grow apace.

The atmosphere at the Care Show - the UK’s largest event for the older people sector care – staged in the popular Dorset seaside town, was brought to life with the soothing sounds of these stunning instruments.  With timber frames and bases made from pressure treated European redwood these high quality, attractive pieces are all from sustainable sources and look fantastic in an outdoor setting; merging music nicely with nature.

Among the beautifully-crafted instruments on display were the Tubano Drums and E-Chimes both of which make playing music outdoors a truly memorable experience and from which a great deal of sensory and memory responses can be stimulated, making a magical difference to everyday life.

One particular Barchester Home where Freenotes are already installed is Chalfont Lodge, Bucks, where head music therapist, Stuart Wood, commented: “Music plays a big part in our lives at Chalfont and is a great way to gel with others.  We were attracted to the Freenotes range because of the quality of materials used and their durability.
