Boughton under Blean play area given huge boost:
Boughton under Blean play area given huge boost - What was once a rather bedraggled expanse of scrubby grass alongside a mud-gathering football pitch is now a fabulous new play area designed and installed by Wicksteed Playscapes.
The graffiti-strewn, lacklustre site had become sadly neglected and somewhat unloved but thanks to finance from The Big Lottery Fund, Faversham parish council and further funds raised by the Boughton Park Supporters Group - founded by village resident, Nicola Smith - the play area is now looking cherished again.
According to Nicola the kids love it and so do the adults! Her enthusiasm was palpable when she commented on the transformation: "We are all very happy in our village - what a difference this is making already - way beyond kids just playing!"
Local MP and Olympic Minister, Hugh Robertson - who, himself, once played on the very same site as a young child - was invited to officially open the new playground to the community.
The members of the Boughton Park Supporters Group were all very impressed with the way in which Wicksteed's designs enhanced the rural landscape whilst also providing risky, challenging play products for the children - particularly the teenagers who really needed a great outdoors space to let off some steam!
