Wicksteed has enjoyed a good working relationship with Dungannon & South Tyrone Council in recent years and acknowledges the Council's method of empowering the local communities by shortlisting playground company proposals and letting the neighbourhoods choose what they want. We were chosen to provide full refurbishments at 3 play areas: Killeen, Aughnacloy and Donaghmore - all of which presented their own interesting challenges.

With constant publicity about the high obesity rate amongst our nation's youth, we know how important it is for children to be active to improve their health and physical wellbeing. What is often overlooked, however, is the importance of exercise in children's development and learning. While playtime might seem like a fun part of the day for children and a chance to escape the classroom, it is in fact, a vital part of the educational process.

We've recently completed a super new play area for Rectory Road commissioned by East Donyland Parish Council in Essex.
We recently installed one of our Fun n Fitness timber Trails at this school in the Leigh area of Wigan where the pupils are enjoying a range of challenges. Designed to encourage the physical development of young students in a fun yet challenging way, they require little supervision and are low maintenance.
Our Fitness Legacy Zone units continue to prove popular and we've recently secured a number of other tenders for Local Authorities including Wormwood Scrubs for London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham - which should help to keep the inmates fit and healthy! - and two sites for London Borough of Harrow, one of which is Headstone Manor park, as seen here.
This was an interesting project and great to be working with Swansea Council once again. With a huge 300k investment in play equipment for 5 locations across the city - two of which we won; Maesteg Park and The Gors - the Council is improving play provision for children in many communities.
Glengormley Integrated Primary School was a finalist in our Facebook competition launched last year and although the school worked really hard to obtain as many votes as possible they were ultimately pipped at the post!
