Awe-inspiring play areas created around Portland stone:
Awe-inspiring play areas created around Portland stone - Two fantastic new playscapes have just been created in Portland and Weymouth, Dorset. Both sites encompass brilliant facilities catering for every age group and with the excavations of Portland stone required to produce the play provisions, the works were no mean feat!
There’s a seaside theme to the surfacing of the toddlers’ play area in The Grove, Portland, upon which Wicksteed Playscapes has installed great products for the little ones. The graphics applied to the surfacing at this end include a jolly lighthouse, sailing ship, starfish and dancing dolphin shapes. The surfacing on the older children’s site is full of colourful swirls. Here, you’ll find exciting and challenging equipment, such as the massive Matrix K2, that towers above the play and sports areas – presenting an awe-inspiring climbing experience for successful mountaineers with views out to sea.
The new Louviers Road play area in Weymouth sports equally exciting equipment, again dominated by the structurally imposing Matrix. A thrilling Combat Cableway Zip Slide and a Multi-Use Games Area for organised or ad-hoc team sports complete this all-encompassing playscape – providing the local community with a wonderfully imaginative outdoor experience. << back to media centre
