A timepiece for future play - One of Wicksteed Playscapes' new play schemes caused a media stir recently when over 150 local residents braved the chilly weather to celebrate the opening of the new Tic Toc children's play area in Gosford Park, Coventry.
Named after the former site of a community clock, the new playground has taken years of campaigning from residents including one determined little four year old, Austin Spencer.
The site was up against six other bids in the West Midlands to receive a Big Lottery Fund grant to help install the fantastic new scheme.
Young Austin kickstarted the campaign into action, following previous disappointing visits to the site with his granddad, by urging people to vote for the £56k grant.
The once sparse play area has now been transformed into a super place where youngsters can really enjoy physical pursuits on challenging and exciting equipment in an attractive environment.
Rajay Naik, Chairman of UK programmes for the BLF, added: "This play area is a wonderful tribute to all the work the residents have done and it is a real testament of the tenacity, effort and selflessness of the people involved."
