A perfectly natural play experience - The fabulous new play area in St Louis Meadow, Banbury, really does have something for everyone. The landscape-led design, installed by Wicksteed Playscapes with playbuilder funding, incorporates a huge array of exciting timber play products - enhancing the park's natural environment to the max!
The ultimate design of this terrific new play space demonstrates perfectly the strict design principles set out by playbuilder guidelines and has totally transformed the site.
The natural surroundings of the area, including steep slopes and a surrounding canopy of trees, were utilised to great effect and Wicksteed's creative design team incorporated exciting play features such as bank slides and various climbing access and fitness trails into the landscape.
Equipment from Wicksteed's tactile timber range, including the Nest and the Cradle Swings, Pick Up Sticks and Fitness Trails sit beautifully in the natural setting.
To further enhance the complete naturalness of the play area, the recycled rubber bonded surfacing - Ecoscape - has been used. This looks very natural and blends seamlessly with surrounding scattered leaves and twigs.
A hand-carved timber archway, especially commissioned by Banbury Town Council, creates the perfect entrance to the adventurous playground.
Ann Sewell, from Banbury TC, is delighted with the results and says how fantastic it is to see the local community making the most of their new adventure land in the park.
